Barfoot’s bound for Berwick!

Berwick Rangers are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Michael Barfoot, as he joins on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee from Musselburgh Athletic, with his new contract at the ‘Gers lasting until the end of the 2026/7 season.

The 25 year-old has been an ever-present in Fisherrow since his arrival from Dunbar United in July 2024. He played a pivotal part in the 2024/5 season for the Burgh, making 38 starts and 6 substitute appearances as the East Lothian side won the East of Scotland Premier Division and reached the fourth round of the Scottish Cup – eventually falling to Hamilton Academical. This season he has made 8 appearances, as Musselburgh seek promotion to the reconstructed Lowland League East for 2026/7.

‘Gers manager Kevin Haynes said, “I’m delighted to bring Michael to Berwick Rangers. Michael has been a target for a while, and understandably Musselburgh have been reluctant to part with him. However, support from the Berwick Rangers Board of Directors has got this deal over the line, and I am grateful to the board for their support.”

Haynes added, ‘Michael is technically sound, with a great range of passing and also demonstrates tactical discipline. He should be a player who controls games, and adds depth and energy to our midfield. We have spoken at length about the expectations here and he’s fully aligned with the standards we set at Berwick Rangers. I’m sure the supporters will appreciate his work ethic and commitment.”
