Forfar edge closer to Development League title
For the second time in little over a month, Berwick lost away to Forfar in the SPFL Development League East.
Two goals inside the last five minutes of the first half gave the home side a 2-0 cushion at half time. The first came when Rangers’ Neil Martyniuk’s head deflected James Yates’ cross into his own net and it was another header which produced the second goal one minute from the half time whistle. Craig Smith’s initial shot struck the bar but he smartly nodded in the rebound.
Six minutes into the second period, Stephen Husband stretched the home lead with a long shot and on 67 minutes, Kerr Hay increased it further.
Ten minutes from time, player manager Colin Cameron netted a consolation goal for Berwick from a free kick, his third Development League goal of the season.
The win keeps the Angus team on course for the league title with only Raith Rovers having any chance of beating them to it. The ‘Gers meanwhile remain off the bottom of the table, 3 pooints ahead of Stenhousemuir.
