McConnell’s a ‘Ger!
Berwick Rangers are delighted to announce the signing of centre back Mark McConnell, who joins from Dunbar United until the end of the season.
The 31 year-old signed for the Seasiders at the start of the 2024/5 season, having previously been club captain at Civil Service Strollers. ‘Sparky’ can boast a wealth of Lowland League experience – as well as his time at Christie Gillies Park, McConnell also won the league with Edinburgh City in 2015 and 2016 and played for Gary Jardine’s side in the SPFL. He adds that experience and leadership to the Berwick defence ahead of crunch league games against Gretna 2008, Caledonian Braves and University of Stirling this month.
Berwick manager Kevin Haynes knows the attributes that McConnell brings, having worked with him at Dunbar in the first part of the season.
“Mark is a centre half with lots of lowland and SPFL experience having played with Bonnyrigg civil service and Edinburgh city in league 2. Having captained civil service for over 4 years he knows what it takes to play in this league. His organisational qualities are something I feel we require at this moment and time”.
Berwick Rangers would like to thank Dunbar United and their chair Pamela Munro for their cooperation in this transfer. Mark McConnell is available to sponsor on the club webstore now:
