Club Update | Looking forward
Following an important away point against Bo’ness United on Tuesday evening, which lays the foundations for the final few months of this calendar year, the Board of Directors provides an update as to the progress against the strategic plan outlined at the club’s previous AGM.
To first look forward, starting with tomorrow’s home tie against old rivals Albion Rovers, the ‘Gers head into a key run of pre-Christmas games as we take on a number of teams who find themselves in a similar league position to the ‘Gers. Over the next two months, we welcome Albion Rovers, Cowdenbeath, East Stirlingshire, Civil Service Strollers, and Gala Fairydean Rovers to MKM Shielfield Park, with an away trip to East Kilbride just before the festivities.
The club continues with its efforts to improve on and off the field. The recent signing of Niall Kemp is a good example – helping the club in the immediate future, but also contributing to a longer-term vision of growth for the club, where a blend of experience and youth combine. To date, Thomas Scobbie has identified and secured the signatures of a number of exciting and talented young footballers. We are confident that this cohort will continue to develop and learn under the leadership of Thomas Scobbie and his team.
Planning for next season is firmly underway, and our emerging talent of Max McGinley, Cai Macnamara , Jack Brown, Johnny Devers, Arran Laidlaw, and Cameron Scott are all signed up for next season. This is augmented by the signatures of experienced hands – Calum Antell , Jamie Pyper, Lewis Barr, and Alex Harris – who are all already on board for season 25/26.
The club continues to leverage its new and expanding scouting network, led by Chief Scout James Cumming, to identify targets that have room for growth and are well aligned with the culture of the squad and a broader recruitment framework. This framework allows us to regularly improve the squad whilst managing club finances.
Off the field, Berwick Rangers are delighted to welcome Chris Butler to the Board of Directors. Chris is a US-based businessman who shares the vision for the club set out by the board at the last AGM and is personally motivated to make a lasting impact in the club and town of Berwick Upon Tweed.
On joining, Chris said:
“The moment (my wife) Joy and I came to Shielfield Park during the summer, we knew it was a place we wanted to be part of. We are excited to already have committed to sponsoring the Women’s team with our Wedding Venue, Eagleview Event Center, and just as excited to be a big part of the men’s team as well!
We truly fell in love with the town of Berwick and the people of the town. We look forward to getting to meet people around town and to help keep the amazing tradition that is Berwick Rangers Football Club!”
Chris will be at tomorrow’s home tie against Albion Rovers, as he’s made the way from the States to take in the day. All at Berwick Rangers are looking forward to a very healthy turnout for tomorrow’s game as we’ve got a full sponsorship and hospitality function suite. This type of support is hugely appreciated and very much needed.
Whilst the club continues to stabilise financially and put in place solid foundations from which to grow, the support of you, the loyal Dream Team fans, not only helps the squad but makes a significant contribution to the future of the club.
Thank you for your continued support, and see you tomorrow.
