Malcolm lands Travis
Berwick Rangers Football Club is delighted to confirm the addition of 29 year-old Michael Travis from FC Edinburgh for an undisclosed fee, after the defender put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the club earlier today.
The defender will be familiar to ‘Gers fans having impressed during a short loan spell at Shielfield Park last season, netting in victories over both Broomhill and Gala Fairydean Rovers during his month with the club.
Following his loan from Forfar, Michael opted to join FC Edinburgh where he’d go on to make 19 appearances last season – and help his side to a play-off final victory over Annan Athletic which saw Edinburgh promoted to League One. Michael has racked up over 200 SPFL appearances, and has also had spells with Livingston and Arbraoth.
Manager Stuart Malcolm said: “Michael Travis is an exceptional coup for this club. The fans and ourselves know what Michael can do from his performance levels and what he brought to the club over the Christmas period last year.
“We tried to keep him at that time and tried to revisit a deal again in the summer which didn’t quite transpire with Edinburgh getting promoted, but we’re ecstatic that we’ve finally got him.
“I’ve got to thank the club hugely in terms of what they’ve done. With the injury to Steven Anderson and finding the finance to bring Michael in, it’s a massive boost and the backing that we’ve had is exceptional in that respect.
“It’s a massive lift for the club and it comes at the right time. Michael is someone who’ll improve us in the defensive areas and move us forward and you can probably tell how happy I am with the capture. We know him from being here, we know the type of influence he’ll have and we know the qualities he has, so again, it’s absolutely fantastic and I’m really looking forward to getting started with him.”
All at the club would like to welcome Michael back to Shielfield. The defender will be available for this weekend’s trip to Gala Fairydean Rovers.
