Dan Purves pens new two-year deal
The club is pleased to confirm that Dan Purves is the latest player to commit his future to the ‘Gers after the exciting forward agreed terms on a new two-year deal.
Purves graduated from the club’s development team at the end of the 2018/19 season before going on to impress in his first full season as a senior, scooping the Raymond Hogg Young Player of the Year, Supporters Club Player of the Year and Borders Branch of Supporters Player of the Year awards in Summer 2020.
Last season, the youngster was asked to adapt his game and would demonstrate his versatility while often featuring in a more central role up top, continuing to show his ability and chipping in with a few goals.
Though cut short, the season also provided Dan the opportunity to play alongside his brother Jo, who has recently signed a pre-contract agreement with Dunbar Utd and will leave the club this summer. Winger Liall Smith will also depart to join Newtongrange Star.
Dan, who is sponsored by Ronan and Katie Atkinson as well as their daughter Callie, will now be looking to nail down a more regular spot in Ian Little’s starting XI and fulfil his undoubted potential.
All at the club look forward to welcoming Dan back to Shielfield Park, where he will feature alongside Dougie Horne, Andy McNeil, Craig Reid, David Ferguson, Jack Cook, John Ward, Kieran Somerville, Jordan Sinclair, Lewis Barr, Jack Wright, Grant Nelson, Ciaran Heeps, Scott-Taylor MacKenzie, Sean Stewart and Lewis Allan.
