Preview: Berwick Rangers v Elgin City
Berwick take on a revitalised Elgin City side tomorrow and manager Colin Cameron will be looking for an instant response from his players following the disappointing 4-2 defeat away to Annan Athletic last week. The ‘Gers were 3-0 down at the interval but goals from Paul Willis and Blair Henderson made it an interesting last five minutes before Peter Weatherson scored from the spot late on to put the game to bed.
Previous fixtures:
In the first and only meeting between the two sides so far this season, the match ended in a 1-1 draw with the game at Borough Briggs postponed earlier in the campaign. Berwick have beaten Elgin just once in the last 12 league encounters, the last home win on March 5, 2011 when a hat-trick from Damon Gray and another from Darren Gribben helped the ‘Gers to a 4-0 win. Overall, in the last 10 fixtures between the sides, Berwick have won one, drawn four and lost five.
Berwick team news:
Kerr Young returns from a one-match suspension following his dismissal against Montrose on January 17 and will be likely to assume his position at the heart of defence again after the team shipped four at Galabank. Michael Andrews dislocated his finger in the warm-up last week but has trained as normal this week after physio Steven Shaw popped it back into place immediately.
Elgin City team news:
Since Jim Weir took over from Barry Wilson in late November, previously doomed Elgin have had something of a revival, picking up eight points in his five games in charge, seven of which have come away from home. Due to the grim weather up north, Weir has only been in the dugout for one match at Borough Briggs and the team have up to four games in hand over some of their League Two rivals. Elgin are without Brian Cameron due to a back injury, while Jamie Duff and Archie MacPhee are both doubts. Shane Sutherland could start after an ankle injury while Jamie Reid has signed on loan from Dundee on loan until the end of the season.
Officials:
Referee for tomorrow’s clash is Don Robertson and he will be assisted by Dougie Potter and Evan Cairns.
