Match Preview : Stirling Albion v Berwick Rangers – Ladbrokes League Two
Johnny Harvey and the boys travel to Stirling Albion on Saturday for a League Two encounter with the kick-off at 3pm.
The ‘Gers travel buoyed from their best result of the season against league leaders Peterhead in mid-week. That victory has eased some of the relegation fears for the 2018/19 campaign and increased the gap from Albion Rovers.
History
This will be the 107th league match between the two sides. Berwick have 31 wins to date, with Stirling having 48 and 27 draws. A Berwick goal against Stirling would be the 124th league goal against Stirling in our history.
Last time the teams met at Forthbank Stirling were awarded a penalty which Sean Brennan saved but then was adjudged to have committed a foul in the subsequent follow up. Stirling then missed for a second time when the second penalty hit the bar!
Berwick beat Stirling 1-0 on the opening day of this season.
Berwick News
Harvey will be looking to build on the wonderful effort from the Peterhead game and record a first away victory since the one against Elgin City in November. Declan O’Kane is available for selection after his recent suspension.
Lewis Barr and Cameron Blues were the goal heroes from the Peterhead game with a goal apiece.
Stirling News
Manager Kevin Rutkiewicz has stated that he wants his team to play with freedom now that they realistically won’t be challenging for a play-off place.
Striker Darren Smith returns after a two-match ban but midfielder Danny Jardine will miss his first game of the season after suffering a head injury against Clyde. Skipper Ross McGeachie is also doubtful for the game.
Stirling have won one of the last five games which has seen their season curtail in 6th place.
