📝 Verlaque pens ‘Gers deal
Despite picking a red card during his match as a trialist on Saturday afternoon, David Verlaque has put pen to paper on a deal which will see him remain at Shielfield Park until Summer 2017.
Despite being, in the opinion of many fans, harshly dismissed in Saturday’s impressive 3-2 victory over league leaders Forfar Athletic, Verlaque helped the Borderers turn the game on its head by adding width to the ‘Gers’ attacks in the time he spent on the park after being introduced from the Berwick bench.
The 21-year old winger was most recently with Stirling Albion, where he featured on 14 occassions this campaign prior to his release in late January, with the youngster seeking an increase in playing time. David also featured in 20 matches of the Binos’ previous campaign.
The right-f0oter, who is also capable of playing the wing-back role often employed by boss Coughlin, has also been with Greenock Morton and Queen’s Park youth sides, and will now be looking to stamp his authority on the senior game.
Prior to beginning life in Black & Gold, David will serve a two-match suspension as a result of his red card – meaning he will not be elgible to feature for Berwick until Tuesday 7th March, when Berwick host Clyde at Shielfield Park under the floodlights.
The club would like to welcome David and look forward to seeing him contribute to the sides efforts for the remainder of the season.
