Little adds three to 2020/21 squad
Manager Ian Little has strengthened his playing squad for the 2020/21 season with a further three players signing pre-contract agreements.
The first of those is Jo Purves, 20, who will join the club from fellow Lowland League outfit Edinburgh University AFC.
A wing-back who is comfortable playing on either flank, Purves is the twin brother of treble end-of-season award winner Dan Purves and, like his brother, also spent time in the club’s Development Team before signing for ‘The Students’.
Liall Smith, also 20, has signed on from Vale of Leithen. A former Livingston youth, where he worked with current ‘Gers boss Little, Smith joined Lowland League side Vale for the 2017/18 season and has remained there since, with his switch to Shielfield Park signalling a fresh start for the winger who, like Purves, is equally adept on either side.
The final of the three additions is 24-year-old goalkeeper Dougie Horne, who joins from SJFA East Super League South side Whitburn Junior FC.
Part of the Hibernian youth set-up until 2014, Horne joined Whitburn for a couple of seasons and then made the switch to Tranent Juniors before returning to Whitburn.
Speaking about his new signings, Little said:
“I’m delighted to add Jo, Liall and Dougie to the squad for the upcoming season, taking the total of signed players on our books to 15.
“We’re continuing to work hard behind the scenes on more additions but I’m happy with our preparations to date, which will ensure that we’re ready to hit the ground running in pre-season when a date is given for football to safely resume.”
