Five ways to prepare for #FreeFootball Saturday!

For many fans this Saturday may be their first taste of Shielfield Park in years, or perhaps even their first taste of Shielfield Park. However, this article aims to give fans new and old guidance on how to make the most of a ‘Gers home game!

1. Make yourself familiar with the players:

The club have just put the finishing touches to our new Player Profiles, including new photos for our players and either completely new or updated profiles for each individual, so you can learn more about the player’s past in a Black & Gold jersey.

Additionally, the club recently launched a string of player interviews in an attempt to improve content – so why not hear what the players have to say? Mark Walters has encouraged youths to work to reach the top; Darren Lavery believes an almost completely new team has done the ‘Gers a world of good; Blair Henderson says the squad owe fans a successful season and Kieran Ainslie looks to be achieving his aim of securing a first team spot. There are a fair few more interviews to work through too, so why not take the time out to catch up?

2. Visit the club shop:

The club have just taken stock of our brand new home and away strips and they will be available for sale for the first time this Saturday. The kits, manufactured by Zoo Sports, have went down a treat with fans so far so there’ll no doubt be a high demand come Saturday. Why not purchase one yourself – they’re priced at just £35 for Adult sizes & £25 in Child sizes.

And if replica kits aren’t your thing, there’s plenty more available, ranging from scarves to badges, jackets to stationary! So if you’re in early and waiting for kick off, why not visit the club shop, located just to the left of the turnstiles on entry.

3. Make sure your up to date by using the club’s social media channels:

The club has almost every social media channel you could imagine covered, and today released an update to the app which completely overhauls both design and features for a better user experience. Why not download the app, or simply update yours if you already have it, and enjoy new features such as private messaging, forums and more!

And don’t just stop there – we’re on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram too – meaning we’ve got pretty much all the bases covered!

How would you like a retweet to over 5500 followers? Simply tweet about Saturday’s game being free for all, either tagging @OfficialBRFC or using #FreeFootball and we’ll RT you! Applies for all businesses too!

4. Join us for a drink in the JB Sponsor’s Lounge after the game:

Watching Berwick Rangers play is generally thirsty work no matter the result, so why not nip upstairs and join us for a refreshment post-match? All fans are welcome to join us for a drink after the match.

To get to the Lounge, simply enter through the main club entrance (opposite the Black & Gold) and head upstairs to the bar. Given we’re currently unbeaten at home this season, we’ll hopefully be toasting another Shielfield victory!

5. Relive it all with match highlights:

As part of our intention to continue to diversify and improve club content, we are delighted to confirm that we intend to provide highlights from as many home games as possible this season – with great thanks to our volunteer Alan Skelly.

The first highlights of the season by BRFC TV should hopefully be online by Monday, so with any luck you’ll be able to show your work colleagues what they missed out on and persuade them to come along next weekend!

If you’re heading to enjoy #FreeFootball with the ‘Gers, we hope you enjoy your day.
