Eric Tait
Year Inducted: 2016
Born 17th June 1951, Eric has done it all at Shielfield Park.
Arguably the best to have ever played for the club, Tait joined Berwick from Coldstream back in 1969, and holds the club records for most appearances made, with 526, of which 435 were made in league action, and most goals scored, having netted 114 during his time in Black & Gold.
Though naturally a forward, Eric has played every position for the club, including as a goalkeeper during his time at Shielfield.
Following refurbishments at Shielfield Park, Eric was honoured with the naming of the ‘Eric Tait Lounge’, which accommodates sponsors and directors prior to and following home games, and is also used as a meeting room throughout the week.
Tait also enjoyed a spell as player-manager of the club between 1983-87 and still attends games at Shielfield today. Now host of BRFC TV, the former frontman can be found in the centre of the Shielfield Park Main Stand on a match day, working as a statistician for Opta.
