Football Academy

In July 2016, the club announced the launch of Berwick Rangers Football Academy in partnership with Northumberland College.

The programme will see the club take on up to 20 students who will study either a Level Two or Three NVQ Diploma in Sport. In addition to this, the participants will train for 6 hours per week and form a side in the Association of Colleges League.

The first year of the course consists of 7 modules, including coaching, tactics, fitness, training and a work experience module. Also included in the course will be a short qualification in either volunteering or coaching.

Students will attend the college, based at Shielfield Park four days each week. The timetable for students is likely to be:

  • Monday – 9am-4pm.
  • Tuesday – 9am-4pm.
  • Wednesday9am-4pm.
  • Thursday9am-4pm.

Many Northumberland College students have progressed to university to study courses such as Sports Coaching, Physical Education and Teaching, Physiotherapy and Sports Development. Some students have also used their skills and travelled to America to undertake scholarships. Many others have moved into jobs in football development and facility management.

Northumberland College will be hosting presentations for interested parties to learn more about the opportunity on the following dates:

  1. Tuesday 9th August 6pm-8pm.
  2. Tuesday 23rd August 6pm-8pm.
  3. Thursday 1st September 6pm-8pm.
