Date of Birth: January 9, 1999
Previous Clubs: Hibernian (youth), Livingston (youth), Penicuik Athletic, Whitehill Welfare, Tranent JFC, Newtongrange Star
Reid started his career at Hibernian before moving to the youth set-up at Livingston, where he spent two years until the expiration of his youth contract in 2017. During that time, he worked with Ian Little, who brought him to Shielfield Park, with ‘Yano’ the manager of Livingston U20s at that time.
After Livingston, the defender signed for Penicuik Athletic before swiftly joining Whitehill Welfare on loan for the 2017/18 season. He made that move permanent for the 2018/19 season but, in November 2018, he switched to Tranent JFC.
He spent the remainder of the 2018/19 at Tranent and also the early stages of the 2019/20 season before signing for Newtongrange Star, where he stayed for the rest of the season before making his move to the ‘Gers for the 2020/21 campaign.
Craig’s kit is sponsored by ‘Gers supporter, Paul Gerry. Although Paul has been a follower of the Dream Team for some time, his sponsorship of Craig represented his first foray into this kind of support of the club.
Paul hopes that the sponsorship will signal the start of further support to come too, having contacted the club in Summer 2020 when the club’s social media content caught his eye.
Having become somewhat disillusioned with events at a club closer to home, Paul now hopes to get to Shielfield Park more often during the 20/21 campaign to watch support the Black and Gold army, and see Craig in action. On completing the sponsorship, Craig shared:
“I’ve yet to visit Shielfield Park to watch Berwick, but I have always looked out for the club’s results. When I heard about the international football commentator Derek Rae becoming a Club Ambassador, it just felt right to do my bit and help the Wee English Club in Scotland.
“I’m looking forward to keeping an eye on the club’s progress from afar in Africa for the first few months, and I’m really looking forward to watching Craig Reid play for Berwick Rangers!”
The club thanks Paul for his valuable support and look forward to seeing him at Shielfield throughout the season.
