‘Gers add Grant Nelson to 20/21 playing squad

Berwick Rangers are pleased to confirm the arrival of in-demand former Glasgow Rangers and Dundee player, Grant Nelson.

Nelson agreed terms on a one-year deal with the club after training this evening having featured as a trialist in Tuesday night’s friendly victory over Whitehill Welfare, and having impressed manager Ian Little and his coaching team during his time on trial with the club.

The centre midfielder was amongst the youth ranks of Rangers and also spent time on loan at Edusport Academy during his time at Ibrox. His time in Glasgow came to an end after a serious ankle injury eventually led to his departure.

Following a spell on trial with Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Nelson agreed terms on a deal with Dundee before departing the club as he planned to take up an opportunity in the United States before Covid-19 put paid to the plan. Grant also featured for Tranent Juniors before his planned travels as he looked to keep fit before departing.

Manager Ian Little said: “Grant had plenty of interest from elsewhere but during his time as a trialist he was impressed with the atmosphere around the club, enjoyed the spirit within the team and liked the way we go about things in training.

“He’s an attacking midfielder and his addition will add creativity and flair to our midfield. We’re delighted he’s chose to commit to us for the coming season.”
