Ewan Herriot departs

Berwick Rangers yesterday agreed to terminate the registration of defender Ewan Herriot.

Herriot has featured consistently for the Under 20s over the last few seasons. After spending all of 2016/17 and the beginning the 2017/18 campaign on a development loan at Blackburn United, where he made 41 appearances and scored three goals, Ewan was called up to Robbie Horn’s first team squad but has found playing time limited.

Head Youth Coach Derek McKenzie said: “I’m extremely disappointed to see Ewan leave but he’s at an age where he needs to play football. His attitude, commitment and performances have been first class during my time at the club and I know he will play his football at a good level. On behalf of all the youth coaches I’d like to thank him and wish him all the best for the future.”

Robbie Horn was also full of praise for the youngster but feels he has plenty of cover at right back “We brought Ewan up to the first team squad after Marcus left but I feel Kieran has done well there and Jack Cook showed he was capable of playing there too. Ewan’s a great lad with an excellent attitude and I’m sure he will find another club no problem. We wish him all the best.”
